Accounts and administration assistant

Sotham Engineering is a successful, privately-owned M&E contractor, established in the region for over 50 years, with annual sales of around £12m. We have offices in Cambridge and Norwich and directly employ around 75 staff. We are looking for an accounts and administration assistant to join our Fulbourn office team. This is a Full-Time role, although part time / job share is a realistic possibility, so those seeking part time employment should also apply. Generous remuneration package on offer.

Key duties include:

Weekly Payroll

  • Receiving, coding and inputting timesheets
  • Generating and checking payslips
  • RTI submissions
  • Reconciliation and maintenance tasks

Purchase Ledger

  • Coding, posting and paying purchase invoices
  • Supplier statement reconciliation
  • General maintenance of the ledger

Administration

  • Answering calls, putting them through and taking messages
  • Creating letters, invoices etc
  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Maintaining spreadsheet registers
  • Other ad hoc task as required

Key Skills

While full training will be given, the successful applicant will ideally possess the following:

  • Prior experience of running a payroll
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Professional and proactive
  • Able to work to strict deadlines
  • Self-motivated, capable of working under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills, verbal written and listening
  • High level of accuracy

Desirable skills

  • Prior experience of maintaining a purchase ledger
