About Us

Sotham Engineering began as a small Engineering company, founded by Mr Brian Sotham of Cambridge. Brian completed his Engineering training with Mackay Engineering and left there to start his own company in the late 1950s.

Brian Sotham incorporated his company in 1966, which in 1967 was acquired by the Cambridge builder and developer; William Sindall.

Sotham grew from a ‘jobbing’ department in to a respected M&E company, carrying out new and refurbishment contracts throughout; East Anglia, London and the Home Counties.

In the early 1990′s William Sindall began looking for merger opportunities to take the construction group forward and in 1994 a reverse take-over took place with Morgan Lovell, a dynamic office fit out specialist from London, to form Morgan Sindall PLC.

Sotham Engineering enjoyed the support of Morgan Sindall for a further four years and in 1998, the opportunity arose for the management of Sotham to acquire the business from its new Parent. The acquisition took place in the December of that year.

Sotham is now owned by Sotham Group Ltd, which is in turn owned by its Directors.

The Company now has offices in Cambridge and Norwich, directly employing around around 75 staff, with sales for the most recent audited financial year, approximately £10.0m.
